There are some people you may know
They brighten the day and make you glow
It is their nature warm and kind
They welcome you and help you find
A reason for rhyme that has no end
They are the people you call your friend

Welcome My Friends

A Red, Red Rose

My love is like a red, red rose
That's newly sprung in June:
My love is like the melody
That's sweetly played in tune.

As fair art thou, my bonnie lass,
So deep in love am I:
And I will love thee still, my dear,
Till a' the seas gang dry.

Till a' the seas gang dry, my dear,
And the rocks melt wi' the sun:
And I will love thee still, my dear,
While the sands o' life shall run.

And fare thee weel, my only love,
And fare thee weel a while!
And I will come again, my love,
Thou' it were ten thousand mile.

Robert Burns

The following is original poetry written by Claire Filler. Claire is my younger sister, who was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer at the young age of 27. Please say a prayer for her while you enjoy some of her poetry.

Turn Of A Head

As I stare at the blank paper, wondering what to say,
I close my eyes, thanking God for giving me one more day.
When they looked at me and told me, "You're maybe going to die,"
I smiled, laughed, and taunted them, "Who could start such a lie?"

Look at me, I'm twenty-seven! I've just begun to live my life.
I have a little boy and I want to be a wife.

But in the broad scheme of things there are no set plans.
You turn your head, and in an instant it's out of your hands.
Some days I wonder why, but I never give in to blame.
I even feel that it's part of God's eternal flame.

There is something for me to say or maybe go and do.
Maybe I have done it; like touched a life or two.
When you're going down the street and you see the balding girl walking with a cane,
Just smile and say hello, for she is not ashamed.

She has lived her life fully, leaving nothing out.
It seems God has put her on a very different route.
So maybe it's my time and then maybe it's not.
I guess none of us know how much life we've really got.

Just remember, the next time you are staring...go and say Hi too.
For tomorrow you may turn your head and it just may be you.

Will You Tie My Shoe?

I look into your big brown eyes, saying, "Will you tie my shoe?"
Not knowing really how much one day I'd depend on you.

As we grew you held my hand and showed me along the way.
But then it came...you had to go one sad and lonely day.

You came back like I knew you would.
Smiling, as you said, "This is George. He's my friend."
And you laid him on my bed.

George has been with me for many many years.
Through heartaches, sadness, and lots and lots of tears.

Though it seems we have to live so many miles apart,
I just hug George close and I can feel you in my heart.

Now here I am sick, saying. "Will you tie my shoe?"
But knowing even more how much I love you.

Always

If you ever lose yourself
and don't know where you are

You will never have to look very long or very far

For you are always on my mind, in my heart, and in my dreams
And the promise of my love can always be redeemed

"Dreams"

Oh my life
Is changing every day
In every possible way
And Oh my dreams
It's never quite as it seems
Never quite as it seems
I know I've felt this way before
But now I'm feeling it even more
Because it came from you
And then I open up and see
The person falling here is me
A different way to be
La
I want more (impossible to ignore)
I want more (impossible to ignore)
And they'll come true (impossible not to do)
And they'll come true (impossible not to do)
And now I tell you openly
You have my heart so don't hurt me
You're what I couldn't find
A totally amazing mind
So understanding and so kind
You're everything to me
